Spain – Barcelona – Casa Mila
Casa Mila, or La Pedrera is one of nice buildings depicting Gaudi’s natural style – he refused to use straight lines because “Nature is not working with straight lines and right angles” It is the last civil building built by Gaudi – before he started to work on Sagrada Familia. Gaudi – devoted catholic – planned this building as a monument to Virgin Mary and Archangels, but it was decided not to build such statues he designed. Over decades building was gradually more and more deteriorated (for example because of extremely high maintenance costs), but fortunately in 1986 it was completely restored.
Tip: You can buy a tickets to take interiors and roof tours and its worth the money if you are Gaudi fan. Anyway, I think Casa Batlo interiors and colorful roof are slightly better… On first photo below there is the interior staircase, and on second is the roof of building called “The garden of warriors” …
